Monique: Hi Mr. Jason Samuel

Jason Samuel: Hello monique

TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF. WHERE ARE YOU FROM? WHAT's YOUR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND ?

I'm from Abia State, I'm Nigerian,Ex-Student of Shenyang Medical College, China had to leave medicine for fashion school in South Africa.

WHAT ARE YOUR GENERAL PROFESSIONAL AND NON-PROFESSIONAL INTEREST?

I love singing, playing the guitar & making new stuff!
um, most times I enjoy doing random cuts & new sketches for my pieces.

WHAT DOES FASHION MEAN TO YOU?

Fashion means a whole lot to me, its more like my life.

HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE YOUR CITY's FASHION?

It's brilliant, coming up pretty fast now.

WHEN DID YOU REALIZE YOU WANTED TO BECOME A FASHION DESIGNER?

At 18, I got fashion sick if there's any such word lol, I just got overwhelmed by my love for art and fashion.. I needed to show the world my own idea of fashion.

WHAT WAS THE FIRST ARTICLE OF CLOTHING YOU EVER DESIGNED?

A sponge bob T-shirt.

HOW LONG DOES IT USUALLY TAKE YOU TO CONSTRUCT A PIECE?

It depends, if it's a Bespoke suit.. it takes me 3 to 4 days maximum.

WHO IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE LOCAL MODEL TO WORK WITH?

I have tons of models I love working with, I'll just name one of them, Bryan Okwara.

DESCRIBE THE GENERAL PROCESS YOU GO THROUGH TO DESIGN AND REALIZE A PIECE OF CLOTHING.

To achieve our level of perfection, every customer experiences a three stage fitting process – the transition from cloth to suit.

Your suits are created from the finest cloths in the world, 50% of which are British. Selected from an extensive range of cloths suitable for all ocassions; different colouring, patterns, lapels and weights, all woven from natural fibres including, vicuna, cashmere, pashmina, mohair, silk, lamb-wool, velvet, sequins, light leather, tessil & gabarden.

Having ascertained the use of the suit, style features and the best cloth, measurements are taken and figuration recorded. The skeleton fitting then takes place. The jacket seams are open and moulded onto the customer to ensure a comfortable fit in harmony with his or her figuration.

A master pattern is then constructed. Only after this stage has been satisfactorily reached does the actual tailoring begin. The canvas inter-lining and chest piece are hand-padded to establish the foundation of the garment.
Soft structured tailoring ensures the garment stays in perfect shape for the rest of its life. After the pockets have been made the lapels are established and the sleeves inserted. The forward fitting then takes place.

By the advance fitting, some 90 hours of highly skilled labour have elapsed. Now the suit is nearly ready, but a final check is vital to ensure perfection. It is now that all the tiny stitches come together in a dashing picture of sartorial elegance. When the client returns to collect the suit, it is tried on for a final approval. We enjoy our record of total customer satisfaction which we cherish and aim to maintain.
